Picnic Shelters

Reservations for 2026 will open on January 1. Shelters are available for reservation between April 1-October 31 and are reservable in four hour time blocks: 6:00-10:00am, 11:00am-3:00pm, and 4:00-8:00pm.

Tualatin Community Park: For the 2026 shelter rental season, the Main, Trestle, and Patio Shelters are reservable. Alcohol is allowed (with an alcohol permit) at the Main, Trestle, and Patio Shelters only.
*PLEASE NOTE: The playground at Tualatin Community Park (across from the Main Shelter) is scheduled for renovations between April-June 2026 and may not be available during this time. Please check back for updates!

Jurgens & Ibach Park: The Large Shelter at Jurgens Park and the West Large Shelter at Ibach Park are reservable. The remaining covered areas in Jurgens and Ibach Park are first-come, first-serve. Alcohol is not allowed.

Atfalati Park: The Playground Shelter at Atfalati Park is reservable. Alcohol is not allowed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tualatin Community Park, Ibach Park, Jurgens Park, and Atfalati Park have reservable picnic shelters. All covered areas not listed are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Shelters can be reserved online, over the phone, or in-person at the Juanita Pohl Center. The shelter rental season is April 1 – October 31 each year, and reservations can be made starting on the first of each year for that particular calendar year.

Shelters can be reserved in four-hour blocks of time from 6:00-10:00am, 11:00am-3:00pm, and 4:00-8:00pm. Keep in mind that picnic shelters do not have supplemental lighting, and during the late fall, it may be dark out before the last rental time slot ends.

The Main Shelter at Tualatin Community Park is the only shelter with an attached restroom. Ibach Park, Jurgens Park, and Atfalati Park have restrooms nearby.

The Main Shelter in Tualatin Community Park has electrical outlets, a drinking fountain and sinks in the restrooms.

Personal charcoal grills are not allowed in Tualatin parks. The Main Shelter in Tualatin Community Park has a BBQ grill on site where charcoal briquette use is allowed. Personal gas and electric grills are allowed in parks on concrete areas adjacent to picnic shelters.

Dunk tanks and bounce houses are not allowed in any city park. Confetti of any type is not allowed in any city park. Food trucks may be allowed with special event permit at Tualatin Community Park’s Main or Trestle Shelters only. Alcoholic beverages are permitted only if a valid alcohol permit and permittee are on site. Alcohol permits must be purchased in-person at the Juanita Pohl Center, M-F during open business hours. Alcohol permits may NOT be purchased on the day of the scheduled reservation. Alcohol is only permitted in Tualatin Community Park, coinciding with a shelter rental. Alcohol is not allowed in any other city park.

Smoking is not allowed on city property.

Any use of amplified sound (including radios, speakers, or other amplification equipment) plainly audible at a distance of 50 feet or more requires a special event permit. For more information on what could be considered a special event, please click on the Special Event Permit Application tab above.

Tents and portable nets cannot be staked into the ground in city parks. Depending on use, this could require a special event permit. For more information on what could be considered a special event, please click on the Special Event Permit Application tab above.

Signs advertising a rental/event are not permitted in any right-of-way areas. Any sign placement must be pre-approved by a City of Tualatin staff member prior to the date of an activity in city parks.

The permittee is responsible for any and all damage that may result from use of the park and will be billed for any and all damages that may result from use. A permittee may also be denied future facility use for up to one year.

The city reserves the right to cancel any facility use reservation. A full refund will be given when the City has cancelled a reservation and a reschedule date cannot be accommodated. When a reservation is cancelled (7) days or more before a rental date, the full rental fee will be refunded, less a $10 handling fee. When a reservation is cancelled less than (7) days before a rental date, no refund of the rental fee will be given. No refunds will be issued for unused reservation time. Alcohol permits are non-refundable or transferable.
