Park Rules

Park rules are primarily intended to preserve a safe and enjoyable environment for the general public, and to protect parks and park facilities from damage.

Park rules are described in detail here in the following sections of the Tualatin Municipal code, and summaries are posted at entries and within the parks.

Yes, we do use pesticides in our parks. However, we use an integrated approach, with different products and thresholds for differing areas of the park system. In high traffic areas like our lawns and playground structures we use no pesticides, but if the need arose we would close the area for public use for a period of time to ensure safety and reduce exposure risk. However, in our landscape beds, or parking lot cracks, or other non-play areas we do use pesticides as a cost-effective tool to maintain these types of areas in our parks. All of our staff are certified by the State Ag Dept. in the safe and proper use of these types of products and always keep our safety and the safety of our public foremost in our processes and practices. Whenever pesticides are applied in our parks, signs are posted as required by law identifying the product used and the target pest.

Dogs in Tualatin parks and trails are to be on a physical leash not longer than six feet, except in designated fenced-off leash areas at Tualatin Community Park and Jurgens Park.

Metal detecting is allowed in parks, although digging holes or disturbing soil is not permitted. If you look for and retrieve items in parks, they need to be laying on top of the soil, grass or other areas.

Parks are open sunrise to sunset, with the exception of activities areas with lights (athletic fields, tennis/pickleball courts, skate park, basketball courts) and special events.

Feeding wildlife of any kind is not allowed.
